    Restrictions to accessibility:

As a general rule, all of the website’s pages were built to meet level AA conformance to web content accessibility. Nevertheless, despite our efforts to make all of the website’s pages accessible, it is possible that some parts of the site are still inaccessible. We note that a number of pages contain external components that are beyond our control and inaccessible. Therefore, the following pages do not meet the accessibility standard:

Small, Lively and LOUD!

Small, Lively and LOUD!

A new year, new life. In the past week, 50 sweet little kids were born in Ramat Hanadiv's goat shed. Our herd of goats, which grazes the Nature Park 365 days a year, is the subject of ongoing  research on animal management and welfare.

Goats are seasonal animals; that is, they generally birth their young only in one specific season, not all year round. The goats' rutting season begins when days start getting shorter (the months of July and August), and their gestation period is about 145 days. Thus they are ready to give birth from the end of December onward.
Ramat Hanadiv's herd counts about 200 heads, which all give birth during the same season in several waves. From January until the end of March, the shed will be overrun by adorable kids bleating non-stop. The kids remain with their mothers in the birthing pen for several days after they're born; then they join the rest of the herd.
Goats give birth to single kids, twins, or triplets -- an average of 1.6 offspring per birthing. Following the births, when the goats are producing particularly high-quality milk, an additional milking season starts; at the same time, the mother goats continue nursing their kids. Our goats' milk is marketed to a nearby dairy, where it is made into excellent yoghurt.
